Second wind….

As a marathon runner (5 races), I know the value of a second wind. It’s the difference between winning or losing. The difference between finishing or quitting. It’s the desperate hope of every runner who’s struggling.

Paul’s encouragement and admonition is to run with endurance the race that’s set before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. His encouragement is “hold on, keep going.” You’re going to get a second wind.

Salvation makes “all things new.” And, salvation propels us down the road of life. But, life has obstacles and steep hills, There are moments of discouragement and pain that threaten the “good race.” Even the veteran runners are not immune.

Jesus has made provision for this “late in the race” hard spot. Hold on. You’re going to get a second wind. The Holy Spirit is promised to us. He is the refreshing wind of heaven blowing gently at our backs. He is available throughout the race of life. Ask Him to fill you anew. Then ask again.

The “second wind” of heaven is coming.

Hold on.
